Vitamin K

Picture demonstrating stages of normal absorption of B12. Parietal cells release both intrinsic factor and components that form HCl-. HCl- activates pepsin. Together HCl- and pepsin digest proteins and free B12. Complex Formation in the duodenum. B12 and Intrinsic Factor form a complex. The complex travels to the terminal ileum where it is absorbed. Once absorbed B12 travels to the liver where it is stored.
